I was reminded of something this week that happened in my childhood so I thought I would share. Here's the story...
Around this time of year when I was growing up, numerous locust shells (what I thought were abandoned June Bug skins) would collect on our patio screen door. I wanted nothing to do with them or the June Bugs that would buzz around and get stuck in my long hair once in a while. (We spent a lot of nights outdoors collecting lightning bugs.) My sister and brother knew how bad they grossed me out. Well, I was notorious for being a tattletale and my siblings decided to retaliate one day by stuffing the dead locust shells in my shoes while I was napping. When I woke up, I took a few steps and heard, "crunch, crunch, crunch...." I didn't realize what the sound was until I poured the dead locust pieces out of my shoes. The short-term affect was me crying for a straight hour after that. The long-term affect is me freaking out every time I come across any bug beetle-ish in nature.
Now that we've moved out to the country near a lake, our house seems like a breeding ground for bugs especially yucky June Bugs. When I return home at night, I'm forced to run into the house dodging and screaming like an idiot. My husband gets a kick out of this and I'm sure you would, too. My poor daughter already has a fear of bugs thanks to me. When she sees them, she says, "Ewwww-- Bug!" and then tries to step on them. For the record, I did not teach her that last part.
Hope you enjoyed the story. And if you ever ask my sister and brother about this, I'm sure they will plead the 5th like they did the day it happened!

Sorry... no good bug pictures to share. But I do have a couple pictures of Adelyn playing in her baby pool with the neighbors. We're looking forward to getting a new pool this summer but keeping this one around for Ella this summer.BTW, Adelyn began her gymnastics class at the YMCA this week. I signed her up for the "Explorers" (sans mommies) so I could hang out with Ella and watch her through the glass. She did great!! We also had the neighborhood girls come over for a "Wii Night" and Austin stayed over one night, too. It was a fun week! Andrew and I have a reception to go to tonight and then we leave in the morning to see our new niece for the weekend. Hope you have a great weekend!
